Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a truly wonderful night and I wish you a very happy 2017. My night began pretty harmless. I ran a few errands including a quick stop at Saks Off Fifth for a bargain deal. I needed a top and accessories to complement my Calvin Klein jeans, which I was planning on wearing to my friend’s house that evening. Luckily, my shopping adventure was successful and I found a fun magenta top, oversized gold hoop earrings, and a pair of sky high pink/nude heels that are actually comfortable.
All dressed and ready to head over to my friend’s for her party. The night was perfect except it would not be a typical “Ashley” night without a minor snafu. As I was walking the very short distance from the party to my car, my heel caught the edge of the driveway and the lawn and down I went; shoes popped off, face down in the mud, contents of my purse sprawled out just like my limbs. The result, torn ligaments in my left ankle and right foot, an air cast and boot, very attractive look. Today, as I write this article, I am sitting on the couch with my feet up, resting and healing. Of course this injury technically happened in 2016 so I am confident that 2017 will be a much better year!
Ordinarily, I do not tend to purchase ripped jeans. I might have a couple of pairs in my closet, but as a rule, I shy away. Partly because I can hear my Mom saying in my head, “why would you pay for ripped jeans?!” I tend to agree. However, such is the trend that I happen to like. I caved, I can’t help it. Lord & Taylor was having a pretty significant after Christmas sale with a $20 doorbuster that I took advantage.
Paige, 7 For All Mankind, Hudson; all good quality jeans and the obvious trendy brands, but give me my Calvin’s any day of the week. The fit is always perfect, they last forever, and look terrific. On this occasion, I wore a Bardot keyhole top with a white hot pair of Sam Edelman loafers with silver studs. I found these vegan beauties at Neiman Marcus Last Call at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets and I was under the assumption that they would ring up 30% off at the register. To my surprise and excitement they were 50% off. If you have time and a store near you try to visit a Last Call. You can really find some unique items and excellent deals.
I hope that everyone had a beautiful Christmas and I wish you all a wonderful holiday season! Last night I chose to build my entire look around a poncho. Not just any poncho, but a stunning colorblock poncho from my Dad last Christmas. He picked it out for me on his trip to Greece. I want to make it a tradition to wear this very special gift every year for Christmas mass. It is such a sentimental gift and a truly unique article of clothing. This year I paired my poncho with a plain long sleeved top, a pair of very comfortable embossed leggings and a pair of vegan Bandolino loafer pumps.
My makeup look was achieved by using:

On Black Friday in addition to purchasing a few presents for others, I bought some items for myself. I just could not resist some of the fabulous deals. This faux suede skirt in particular, reminded me of a skirt I once had in middle school. Have you ever stumbled upon an article of clothing or an accessory that brought you right back to a childhood memory? I find that so exciting. In my younger years it might be embarrassing to wear anything that resembled anything from childhood, but I now have an appreciation for nostalgia.
This outfit is perfect for visiting with a friend over a cup of hot chocolate or attending a low key holiday get together. Mixing patterns and textures is a fantastic way to add interest to the overall look. The striped gold and black mock turtleneck is a BCBG Max Azria piece is incredibly lightweight and form fitting. I tucked this top into my BCBG Max Azria faux suede skirt with a subtle flare towards the bottom. My leopard print booties are quite a few years old, but you can find a similar pair here.
My makeup look was achieved by using the Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow in Amberluxe from M.A.C.

All that know me know I love glittery shoes. When I saw these gold beauties at Zara, I had to add them to my collection. The black and gold glitter Mary Jane’s with low heel are a festive alternative to the traditional sky high heels and can be worn to any holiday party. The glitter shoes fit perfectly with the BCBG black lace dress that I purchased on Black Friday at Bloomingdale’s. The high neck, buttons on the wrists, and lace trim all add to the unique look of this design. I wore a pair of HUE sweater tights, but black sheer tights would also work.
My makeup look includes a soft red lip by Laura Mercier in Red Amour a shimmering pink blush with gold flecks by Laini Cosmetics from the Bronze Goddess palette, and a smokey grey/brown eye from The Nudes palette by Maybelline.

I absolutely love velvet every since I was a little girl. There is just something about the soft texture and the way the fabric catches the light that is so regal. This year velvet is very on trend and most style icons have been seen wearing some form of velvet, from shoes to chokers.
My look includes a simple green velvet spaghetti strap asymmetrical top from Charming Charlie and peacock jacquard clutch, paired with my Catherine Malandrino tuxedo blazer that I purchased last season and find of all finds, a pair of bell bottom velour pants. These pants are so fun and unique that I just had to purchase them. Sometimes, you may not have the occasion for an outfit or article of clothing, but if you really love then I suggest buying! I wore this entire look to dinner at Autograph Brasserie. Stay tuned this Thursday for my review!
Attention all vegans, wait before you scream at me, it is faux leather. Ok now that we have that settled, the combination of the patterns and textures make a unique and interesting look. I decided to pair this leopard lace up bodycon dress from New York & Company with a faux leather and gold clutch and two fashion jewelry bracelets with pearls both from Charming Charlie; a store of which I have a small addiction.

The color palette of my accessories in this shoot are not typical in my wardrobe. However, I was interested in incorporating a couple of Pantone’s Fall/Winter 2016 colors. As accents to my simple all black look, I paired cool tones including Airy Blue and Sharkskin. Some of the shades this season are on the vibrant side, but adding them sparsely with a neutral outfit is the perfect way to experiment with these bold shades.
The focal point of my look is the faux leather pencil skirt from Karen Millen. This skirt is incredibly versatile as you could wear out with heels and a fancy top or as I have more casually. My black sheer top may look simple, but the cuffs have a little detail. They are cut in a “v” shape around the wrists. Sparkly tights are not just for when you are five years old- or maybe I was feeling nostalgic. The silver thread in the tights worked well with the silver coiled bracelet from Charming Charlie. The weather was brisk, but sunny. I wore a reversible black and Sharkskin shawl. My flats with a silver zipper in faux patent leather, which are comfortable and chic. The entire look was completed with a satchel bag with silver lock in Airy Blue.
My makeup needed to also incorporate the cool tones of my look. I applied the silver and light cream eyeshadow over my entire lid and crease from the Haute Right Now palette by Laini Cosmetics. To my cheeks, I added the pink blush to my cheeks and the Sophia Loren lipstick in gorgeous pink nude from Dolce & Gabbana. My nail polish is called Charmer- a silvery blue from the organic brand, Scotch Naturals.
The Fall and Winter season is my absolute favorite when it comes to fashion and beauty trends. This week I had the privilege of styling a photo shoot featuring the gorgeous designs by Naveda Couture paired with the stunning makeup collection by Laini Cosmetics. Both of these local brands are setting the trends not following them.
Designer and Creative Director of Naveda Couture, Amy Devan modeled three distinct looks from her collection while Laini Bianculli, Chief Creative & Image Director of Laini Cosmetics created three striking makeup looks to complement the fashion pieces. From natural to glamorous, day to night these beautiful fall/winter styles will definitely turn heads this season! Enjoy a sneak peek of the behind the scenes of our fabulous shoot.
Laini created a custom bespoke foundation for Amy- focusing on radiant, healthy looking skin with defined brows and lips. It can be challenging to find the right shade of foundation. It is not unheard of to need two different shades that need to be blended when purchasing from a store. Laini’s custom foundation matches your skin to perfection without having to combine any other products and for all skin tones and concerns as she infuses skin care with the makeup. As a result, Amy’s skin was flawless and slightly glowing as there is a subtle luminescence in the mixture. To highlight her eyes, Prime Time Eye & Lip Primer was applied to her lids. The Brows Have It palette is a must when defining and filling in the brows. Liquid Shimmer was applied lightly just under the brows to create a highlight effect. Haute Right Now and Nude Ambition palettes were applied as well to add to the youthful and fresh faced look. Cameo liner, Parisienne lipstick, and Love fest lipgloss created a soft nude pink lip.
The spectacular apricot Naveda Couture kaftan with gold embellishments around the neckline needed a complimentary color palette without matching perfectly. Laini decided on a peach lip to compliment Amy’s yellow undertone in her skin and golden shadow to bring out the gold in the jeweled detail of the dress. Both Haute Right Now and Nude Ambition palettes were applied along with Shimmering Skin Perfector Slimlight by Becca. To finish this look, Laini added M.A.C. creamy lipstick in Shy Girl.
For the final look and most glamorous- perfect for a night out or event, Laini decided to add false lashes for extra drama. Laini’s gorgeous Moonlight lashes were applied and accentuated with Black Caviar Gel Liner. Touchy Feely palette, Ballerina Bronze Blush & Bronzer Duet, and Rose Gold Shimmering Skin Perfector by Becca were applied to Amy’s eyes and cheeks. Red Carpet Lip Palette was the finishing touch- a classic bright red lip!
The complete looks will be featured on Stylewithlaini.com tomorrow, please stay tuned!
The weather was absolutely beautiful over this long holiday weekend so taking a trip to Solebury Orchards for fresh apples, apple butter and cider and visiting Bountiful Acres for fairytale pumpkins for cooking was a quintessential fall day.
My style on this crisp, sunny day was inspired by the one and only Stevie Nicks. I have been a fan since I was little and over the past months I have been listening to Gypsy almost everyday, singing along to Landslide and watching video clips about the tumultuous band Fleetwood Mac. Music just speaks to you differently throughout the years, which is one of my favorite parts, the meaning changes.
These over the knee boots, I found at Lulu’s, which offers a large selection of vegan apparel and clothing. I paired the faux suede boots with a fun mini dress with frilly sleeves from Zara- another trend this season. I did not want the look to feel like a costume so I avoided some of my favorite accessories like hoop earrings and long chain necklaces. I wanted it to seem modern and fresh even though this style was around in the seventies.
I focused more on my skin than a heavy amount of makeup. I wanted to create dewey skin by applying face moisturizer and then cream makeup products. I applied Laura Mercier cream blush in Praline to the apples of my cheeks. To my eyes, I applied M.A.C. Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly and two coats of False Lashes mascara. I defined my lips using the In Control lipliner, then applied Mehr matte lipstick all over my lips and Plushglass in Big Baby only to the center of my lips. Layering creates fullness to lips. What are your favorite beauty and fashion trends this season?
